- Conduct a learning needs learning needs assessment of UNHCR staff
- Undergo a review of policy documents, guidelines and other material on gender based violence
- Propose strategies and concepts for sustainable, engaging and impactful training formats that address the uncovered needs and empower staff.
- Design of a 3 day learning event with regards to the Gender Based Violence Policy
The aim of this research study was to identify any gaps in the knowledge and capacity related to gender based violence across operations in Asia Pacific, including partners and non-protection staff across. The countries involved in the study were mainly Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, South Sudan, Sri Lanka along with Tajikistan and Thailand. The key stakeholders targeted for the capacity assessment were UNHCR and partner staff at different levels working in GBV, protection, technical areas and programme management.
Data Capture & Synthesis
The data captured through the various research activities was reviewed, analysed and synthesised into key insights on the learning needs, identified challenges with the available learning and training material and recommendations for future knowledge and capacity building.
Recommendations & Next Steps
At the end of the report is an overview of recommendations with key recommendations highlighted as immediate first steps. In addition an outline and initial ideas for the design of a series of learning events can be found in the last chapter.
